About Archie

Personality: Friendly, Affectionate, Gentle, Playful, Funny

Archie, our 2 year old 22 pound chiweenie mix, is, ahem, odd looking. Kinda like he was drawn by someone who had never seen a dog before. Archie's ears are comically big, he has "human" eyes, and his legs are very short. He also points his toes out like a ballerina. Fortunately, this combination of traits really works for Archie...he's outrageously cute. Would you believe he has the personality to match?

Archie was surrendered to a local rescue after his people got divorced. We were reached out to help because Archie has dietary and digestive issues. Archie was diagnosed with a poorly functioning pancreas and inflammatory bowel disease. The good news is that his disease is easily managed. As long as Archie stays on pancreatic digestive enzymes, a low dose of steroids, and a prescription digestive diet, he does great! His adopter should plan on spending 70 dollars a month.

Friendly, playful, and cuddly, Archie's foster family describes him as an easy-keeper. He is potty trained and not destructive. Archie understands the benefits of a good nap on the couch and is happy to lounge around; however, Archie also seeks adventure. He loves a hike and is great in the car. Archie is very cat friendly and immediately tried to befriend the cat in his foster home. We also think Archie would do fine with kids over 10; small kids scare Archie.

Where Archie struggles is with other dogs, especially large ones. They scare him and he'll bark at big dogs when he sees them on leash. For that reason, having a yard may work best for Archie and a low-dog-traffic neighborhood. Archie would like to be the only dog in his house.

Archie is microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm negative, current on his blood panel and current on his flea and heartworm preventatives.

Have you been in search of a friend for your cat? Someone to gaze into your eyes with their own people-eyes? Wanna feel a bit taller?
