About Pebbles

Personality: Affectionate, Friendly, Gentle, Playful, Loves

We have a theory about Pebbles, our 18 month old 11 pound Pomeranian. When she was being created, she spent extra time in the "fluffy and cute" department. Probably overloaded a bit, to be fair. Then, with some time left, Pebbles filled up on "charming" in the personality department. What she forgot to do was get in line for decent legs. So, Pebbles got the leftovers. Our skeletally challenged dreamboat is now looking for a family to embrace her differences.

Pebbles came to us after having been found stray. The shelter noticed her odd walk and reached out to us for help. During her spay, we took x-rays and found that Pebbles has a deformed front leg (likely from a poorly healed fracture when she was growing) and was born with poorly seated hips (hip dysplasia) and luxating patellas. So, Pebbles has one good leg.

We took Pebbles to the orthopedic specialist to see if anything could be done. We learned that she would need multiple extensive surgeries to correct these problems. The recovery would be prolonged and painful with a higher than desired complication rate. As Pebbles is happy and comfortable, we elected not to try and rebuild her. She may not be cut out for marathons or backpacking, but she was born for long cuddles and romps around the yard.

Pebbles loves all people including kids. She has been so easy to have in foster as she is crate and potty trained. Good on a leash, Pebbles loves to meet dogs both on and off lead. She is still a puppy and is playful and funny. Nothing makes her happier than a squeaky toy. Pebbles is fine being left alone as long as her person makes up for their absence with extra hugs. We have not seen Pebbles around cats but can do an introduction if needed; we suspect she'd be just fine.

We do wish Pebbles had been granted a better body. But she's obviously perfect anyway. Think yours is the home for Pebbles?
