About Barry
Personality: Affectionate, Athletic, Brave, Curious, Friendly, Funny, Playful, Loves, Smart
Ahh, to have the confidence of Barry, our 9 month old 6 pound tabby kitten. Upon coming into his foster home for the first time, Barry glanced around at the resident dogs and cats and then walked up to them one by one. If he spoke English, we're sure he would have said "look, I may be new around here, but I am in charge. Let me know if you have any questions." Then he made himself at home on the couch.
Barry was found stray with a prolapsed anus (sorry, Barry, we have to tell them). This happens when a kitten has been straining to defecate, usually secondary to parasites. Unfortunately, the shelter did not have the space for him to heal, so they reached out for help. Since Barry's been with us, he's been dewormed, has had a negative fecal, and no longer has, ahem, a scarlet sphincter. Just a standard cat anus (which, like all cats, he's very happy to show you).
Barry is 93% sweet and 7% troublemaker. He loves to be held and will climb up his person to curl up on their chest. Then he'll reach over and knock the pen out of their hand. Funny, playful and curious, Barry will poke his nose into everything. He's got an easy purr and head-butts with abandon. He's already mastered spooning and is happy to keep his person company in the restroom (whether they want that or not). Barry is good with dogs and very curious about other cats. We suspect with appropriate introductions, Barry could live with both. He is, as we said, a bold little guy, so cat-savvy dogs would be best.
Barry is microchipped, neutered and FeLV/FIV negative. He's current on his vaccines and flea prevention.
We're big Barry fans here, even if he's been slowing down productivity. Need some more leadership in your life? Apply to adopt at www.stumptownstrays.org
