About Rocky Road

Personality: Affectionate, Brave, Curious, Friendly, Funny, Loves, Playful, Smart

This time of year, it's easy to over-indulge on treats. And why not? Life is hard, have something sweet. By the way, nothing is sweeter than a 2 month old puppy. Our Dessert Litter are ready to find their forever homes and they promise, like a big slice of pie, to make things a bit better.

The puppies came to us after their mother died. At 4 weeks old, they were too young to take care of themselves and we were asked to help. Their mom was a cattle dog mix, but we don't know who the dad was. Maybe a husky (someone contributed those pretty blue eyes) or shepherd? Based on their current weights, we expect the puppies to be 50-65 pounds fully grown.

All of the puppies are well socialized to kids, adults, and other dogs. They are still developing their personalities but they are universally very friendly, funny and playful. Rocky Road is the smallest of the litter. Tiny but mighty, she's brave, adventurous, and ready to take on the world. Rocky Road was born with eyes that are too small but she can see just fine. The ophthalmologist thinks Rocky Road's eyes may grow as she does so this will continue to be something to monitor.

Puppies need vaccines every 3 weeks until they are 16 weeks old. Until those final vaccines, they don't have enough immunity for dog parks and the like. However, the litter will have received 2 rounds of vaccines by the time of adoption and can enroll in puppy kindergarten and socializing groups. This, along with continued training, is highly recommended. Puppies are a lot of work, but like a complicated cake that turns out just right, very much worth the effort.

The puppies are microchipped, dewormed, and current on flea and heartworm preventatives. Their adoption fee includes the spay/neuter when they are 6-9 months old.

At the end of a long year, if someone asks you if you have room for dessert, say yes. Next year, start things off right with a new best friend!
